Essential Qualities of a Fighter pilot | Tips from no.1 air force coaching in Lucknow

This article is written for the students of Warriors Defence Academy, best air force coaching in Lucknow, as well as other students all over India preparing to become a fighter pilot in Indian Air force.

All of you aspiring for a career in Indian Air Force must have dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot like Abhinandan Varthman. When you would join Air Force there will be much more opportunities apart from being a fighter pilot. Air Force requires airmen, crew and others who make our fighter pilots feel confident enough to win air battles.
The exams for Airmen X/Y group and air force pilots are different hence separately organized. At Warriors Defence Academy, top air force coaching in Lucknow, coaching programs for both exams are available.

In my view flying a plane is the most terrific and exciting experience that a person can have in his life. Being a fighter pilot is different from Army or Navy officer in many ways. If you are dreaming to become a fighter pilot try inculcating the following qualities in yourself since sometimes or most of the times these qualities make all the difference between life and death of a pilot.

Attention to details. You must learn a great deal of precision to master the art of flying. The machine is unforgiving. A small mistake may lead to significant deviation in your objective. It may even be fatal. Early in the days of petrol engines fighter planes flew at a speed of several hundred miles per hours hence it was to some degree possible to rectify mistakes. This is the jet age. The fighter planes fly at speed of two and half thousand kilometres per hour. The chances of correction are few.
Your calculations must be sound. While you prepare for exams you must learn to not allow even the smallest errors creep in your calculations. It is a common trait of the teachers in our academy, no.1 air force coaching in Lucknow, to inculcate the quality of precise calculations in the students.

Stay calm under pressure. I knew a friend who said she knows everything but when teacher asks her in Viva, her mind gets blank and she cannot utter a word. It simply means she is not able to withstand pressure. The fighter pilot while logged in flight has to face strain not just from the machine and environment but also the command of the superiors and the objective he has to achieve.
Your mind must not stop working under the dire conditions and you must learn to face upheavals with certain degree of calmness and should never lose track of your final objective. In your daily life most of the times you might face circumstances where several problems appear at once and you might have to make a rational decision. The way you act under similar circumstances is a good test of what you are and how can you improve yourself.

Act on your own Initiative. Do you know why every Indian knows Abhinandan Varthman and is proud of him? He has the ability to act on his own initiative. In battles, acting on Initiative is very important. Sometimes it makes all the difference between victory and defeat. In case of Air Force it becomes more important. You are flying your plane and find some loophole in the enemy fleet or plans. That moment is precious. That will not come back. You must exploit your enemy`s disadvantage to the best of your advantage.

I have seen many students who follow Newton`s first law of motion. They remain acting same way until someone wakes them up or asks them to do something. If you are one of them either leave this habit or stop dreaming to become a fighter pilot. You won`t have both.
Act confidently. You must always learn to be sure of yourself and you must always have a firm   belief in your abilities. While in air, every second is crucial and there is no second guessing. Decision once made is final. Having faith in one`s own ability requires sound preparation, hard work and being open to receive severe challenges.

To bring the confidence you must have a great degree of passion to learn things in depth. Superfluous knowledge leads nowhere in your profession. You must not only have the knowledge of the things that work but also have a  clear concept regarding the way they work, reason behind their work, possible alternatives and etc.s

Get along with others. How do you get along with your friends while working on a problem, some projects or an extra-curricular task? A fighter pilot while in air has to keep communicating with the base station and continuously get data and act upon it. You must have a clear, straight forward communication with the base station in order to act quickly. Also, you must adopt yourself to work according to the guidelines given to you by your superiors irrespective of whether you like it or not.
Working with a team is very important. You cannot do everything on your own. You must learn to assimilate yourself in the environment and respect others. Keep your tone polite and as friendly as possible.
